What are Probiotics?
Probiotics are live microorganisms that bring beneficial effects to intestinal health. There are many different strains which provide different effects in the body. Having a diverse microbiome is crucially important for our health and unfortunately, there are many things that affect this balance of good bacteria, which is why it is so important to colonise the gut with the necessary bacteria daily for overall wellness.
What are Prebiotics?
Prebiotics are a set of non-digestible food components that good bacteria (probiotics) will eat, and have a massive influence in the health of your gut!
Basically, Prebiotics fuel the growth of probiotics so No Guts, No Glory! has you covered with a comprehensive formulation of both!
Why is it important for probiotics to be in a delayed-released capsule?
Having our formula in a delayed-released capsule ensures our stomach acids don’t break down the capsule and kill all the fabulous bacteria before they get to the gut! See, once swallowed, research has shown that for good bacteria to be beneficial, they must survive the journey through our gastrointestinal tract which is quite acidic. When a delayed-release capsule is used, which has an enteric coated, polymer barrier, it prevents the capsule from disintegrating in the stomach acids. Where it will break down is in the intestinal tract which has a higher PH, the perfect spot for them to nest and do their magic.
Other products have much higher CFU’s, why is this lower?
ah, fabulous question. Glad you asked!
Although CFU’s matter (live bacteria) and any probiotic can have a lot of CFU’s, it doesn’t mean it delivers results.
CFU amounts don't impress us. Efficacy does. For example, the efficacy of the award winning probiotic stain DE111® in No Guts, No Glory! has been proven in over 30 scientific studies & counting to be a highly stable genome sequenced probiotic strain that works extremely effectively and remains viable in processing and in the gut even at smaller CFU’s. This means it gets to the gut alive, whereas when unstable strains of bacteria are used in probiotics, a LOT is needed because most of them will die on the journey to the gut. By using shelf stable super effective strains that are patented and spore forming, we can use less CFU'S for effective results, because a massive influx of too many millions of bacteria can shock the gut and lead to gut dysbiosis.
